Sepia Saturday 626 : 18 June 2022

One of the eternal questions for lovers of old photographs is "how do we know when they were taken?" Our sepia relics predate digital date-stamping by a century or more, and pencilled captions tend to be few and far between. So we are lovers of the inconsequential, ephemeral detectives, collectors of clues. When was Henry Baynton in "The Melting Pot" at the Royal Lyceum Theatre? When was the Vagabond King on at the Edinburgh Empire? (The answer, of course, is 1929 .... or maybe 1928 - photo dating is an uncertain art). This week on Sepia Saturday we are celebrating photo-dating. This, however, is Sepia Saturday which inevitably means we are celebrating old posters on walls, gable ends, custard and coffee - or any other interpretation you care to squeeze out of the theme image. Simply post your posts on or around whatever date it is and add a link to the list below. And take a look at what is to come around the gable end.

Sepia Saturday 625 : 11 June 2022

Step right into the nostalgia store - department stores like they used to be, with glass cabinets, wooden floorboards and cash tills that went ker-ching. Our theme image for Sepia Saturday 625 - post your posts on or around Saturday 11th June 2022 - is open to the usual wide variety of interpretations - the customer is always right. And whilst you browse the blouses, take a look at what features in the next two Sepia Saturday collections.

Sepia Saturday 624 : 4th June 2022

Cut the cake, fill the cups with tea from the urn, put on your paper hat, and smile, smile, smile. Yes, it is the Jubilee weekend here in the UK and we are celebrating it with a right royal Sepia Saturday prompt image. As with all our Sepia Saturday themes, however, it is open to interpretation, so whether you are a royalist or republican, whether you are in Bognar Regis or Botswana, you are invited to submit your old images to Sepia Saturday by adding a link to the list below, on or around Saturday 4th June 2022. And whilst you wait for your sausage roll to cool down and your glass of flat beer to warm up, you can amuse yourself by looking at the next two Sepia Saturday theme images.

Sepia Saturday 623 : 28 May 2022

Lying around doing nothing in particular is our theme for Sepia Saturday 623. It is a most appropriate theme because that is what I have been doing for the last few weeks and that has resulted in me forgetting to put the Sepia Saturday call up!. My apologies to you all, and my sincere thanks - again - to Barb for the timely reminder. I will add the next two call images as soon as I finish preparing them, but in the meantime you can add links for this week's Sepia Saturday (28 May 2022).
