Sepia Saturday 824 : Saturday 2nd May 2026
This week is the 824th week of Sepia Saturday so it is time for a celebration, and what better way to celebrate than with a cake. If you are wanting a theme you can have celebrations or cakes or two splendid ladies - the choice, as always, is yours. All you need to do is to choose an old photograph, say a few words about it, post your post on or around Saturday 2nd May 2026, and add a link to the list below. And if you want to know who these two are - I'll tell you a bit more about them in my own post on Saturday. As far as what awaits us during the next 824 weeks - well here is a sneak preview of the next couple of weeks,

Sepia Saturday 823 : Saturday 25th April 2026
I remember back in the 1950s and 60s, people often wanted their television sets including in photographs; those box-like, round-knobbed sets were the status symbol of their time. There may have been a similar trend in the 1920s to include radios in photographs, but, even I, am not old enough to remember that. So for your theme this week you can choose television sets, or objects, settees or china elephants. As always, the choice is yours - all you need to do is to share an old photograph on or around Saturday 25th April 2026 and leave a link on the list below. Once you've done that you can settle down and see what is to come over the coming weeks on Sepia Saturday.

Sepia Saturday 822 - Saturday 18th April 2026
Our theme image this week features an early twentieth century motor vehicle (the body of which, coincidentally, was built by my father's Uncle Albert). Leaving aside the family pride, you might want to use the image to prompt reflections on vehicles past and present, or, noting that the wagon was used to transport beer, you might want to take a diversion into the realm of beer bottles. And, as always, you can take a completely unchartered diversion to wherever you want - all we ask for is an old image and some new thoughts. Deliver them on or around Saturday 18th April 2026 and leave a link on the list below.
Before asking you to turn your eyes to what will come next on Sepia Saturday, can I take a moment to thank my good friend and loyal Sepian, Barbara Rogers, for reminding me to put the weekly call up on the all too many occasions where I forget. Thanks to her and to all of you for continuing to support Sepia Saturday.

Sepia Saturday 821 : 11th April 2026
We've always been proud of our houses. Once affordable cameras became available to the general public, we have highlighted that pride by having our photographs taken outside our houses. It doesn't matter whether we are talking about mansions or cottages, caravans or terraces: we want our photographs taking whilst we are lined up alongside them. This week on Sepia Saturday we are celebrating houses and you are invited to share your old photographs by posting them on or around Saturday 11th April and leaving a link on the list below.

Sepia Saturday 820 (4th April 2026)
My Sepia Saturday theme image this week is a bit of a mystery. It is from my own collection and is simply captioned "B&C Male Voice Choir 1918". I have no idea what the "B" and the "C" stand for, but I am intrigued by the fact that so many able bodied men, not in uniform, have been able to gather together, given the date is 1918. The mystery of the male voice choir may never be solved but that doesn't matter - the picture provides us with a chorus of potential themes for your old photographs this week. There are choirs, there are groups, and there are mysteries. If none of those suit you, you can always choose the year - 1918. Whatever your choice, just post your post on or around Saturday 4th April 2026 and add a link to the list below. And then take a look at what is still to come here on Sepia Saturday.

Sepia Saturday 817 : Saturday 14th March 2026
Our Sepia Saturday prompt this week features a happy family group heading off somewhere with smiles on their faces and carrying suitcases. Given that the photograph dates from 1940 and the man in the photograph is in uniform, one can rightly be anxious that the smiles and the happiness are misplaced. Let us hope not, and let us try to celebrate happy family occasions and journeys here on Sepia Saturday by sharing old photographs on or around Saturday 14th March 2026. And whilst we are waiting for the boat to leave, take a look at what comes next here on Sepia Saturday.

Our trawl through the photographic archives that are part of the magnificent Flickr Commons initiative has this week taken us to the Netherlands and the photographic collection of the Dutch National Archives. Our theme image has three intrepid campers in a tent listening to the weather forecast on a transistor radio. You can go with the weather, with camping, with transistor radios over whatever you want to. Just pitch your tent, along with your post, on or around Saturday 7th March 2026 and add a link to the list below. Sepia Saturday 814 : Saturday 21st February 2026
Photography was made for groups. Get a group together - be it a group of friends, family, fellow workers or ten-pin bowlers - and one of the first reactions is to get out a camera and record the moment for posterity. Here, on Sepia Saturday, we are the archivists of posterity, and therefore we have countless photographs of groups of people to share. You can share them by linking the photographs, on or around Saturday 21st February 2026, on the list below. And whilst you are getting your group to line up in proper order, you might want to see what the archivists of posterity will be doing next.

Sepia Saturday 811 : 31 January 2026
Our trip through the various museums and archives that are affiliated to the Flickr Commons initiative arrives at the George Eastman Museum Collection. Our theme image is an 1880 Carte-de-Visite photograph of a circus contortionist and it celebrates "Strange Shapes". It can just as well celebrate unexpected angles. striped clothes, upside down, circus entertainers or, this being Sepia Saturday where the rules are as flexible as this poor soul's body, anything you want. Just post a post on or around Saturday 31st January 2026 and add a link to the list below. Once you've done that, you can shape up to what is to come in February.

Sepia Saturday 810 : 24th January 2026
Our Sepia Saturday theme this week is "Transport In Times Gone By" and it is immediately apparent that transport back in the days of old was not always on time. Often it was late - and very occasionally it was early! Yes, well done to all those who spotted the mistake, this Saturday will be the 24th January and not the 23rd. Mistakes apart, we would like like to park you old cars, buses, horses and carts, bicycles, or whatever, on or around Saturday 24th January 2026 and add a link to the list below. Once in place you can check out to see if there are any mistakes in the future Sepia Saturday programme.

SEPIA SATURDAY 809 : 17 JANUARY 2026
A postman delivering parcels in a snow covered landscape - it's a timeless theme which has attracted photographers for well over a century. These days the postman might be replaced by the self-powered Amazon delivery robot, but science and technology has not been able to get rid of the snow yet. Snow and post are just a couple of potential themes you might want to pick up for this week's Sepia Saturday challenge. Whatever themes you choose you can deliver your Sepia Saturday post by posting it on or around Saturday 17th January 2026 and adding a link to the list below. And whilst you are at the post office you might want to see what is coming in future Sepia Saturday deliveries:

SEPIA SATURDAY 808 : Saturday 10th January 2026
Throughout history, men and women have had to work in order to survive. Throughout photographic history, men and women have occasionally taken their cameras into work with them in order to create a photographic record of their endeavours. This week on Sepia Saturday we are celebrating work in days gone by as represented in old photographs, and our theme image comes from the Flickr Commons Collection of the Powerhouse Museum in Australia. We are currently working our way through the various collections that are part of the magnificent Flickr Commons initiative, and the Powerhouse Museum was one of the founding institutions of Flickr Commons.
You can add your own contribution on the theme of "work in days gone by" (or any theme you want) by linking your post to the list below on or around Saturday 10th January 2026. And just in case you want to explore "work in days to come" here is a list of our themes for the rest of the month.
