We start a new month on Sepia Saturday with a face - and what a face it is. People sometimes talk about "reading a face", but if such a thing was possible, I suspect that you would find that this face was written in some obscure foreign language. There is a degree of strength there, and more than a dash of determination. Is there perhaps a smidgen of sadness? You can carry on reading all day and keep discovering new elements - that's the wonder of old photographs.
