Sepia Saturday 849 : 24th October 2026

We are all up in the air this week here on Sepia Saturday. As we trawl through the elements this month, we have worked our way around to air. Our theme photograph shows a couple of flying machines from 1910: an early aeroplane and a hot-air balloon. Next week, we have a rather special element, seeing as it is Halloween: ghosts. So start looking out for those ghostly photographs now. 3,2,1 ... Fire : or rather it is 848 Fire. And let's just remember what that means - this is the 848th week of Sepia Saturday which, as far as the all too temporary world of the internet and social media is concerned, must be a bit of a record. This week on Sepia Saturday our theme - if you want a theme to follow - is fire. Fire away with any interpretation of that theme you like, just give us an old photograph and some new words on or around Saturday 17th October 2026 and leave a link on the list below. We have reached "water" in our Sepia Saturday tour of the elements, so this week we are inviting you to share any old photographs that are in any way connected with water. All you have to do is to post a post on or around Saturday 10th of October 2026 and add a link to the list below. Once you've done that you can float off and look at what is to come on Sepia Saturday for the rest of the month.

Sepia Saturday 846 - 3rd October 2026

 

For reasons I have now forgotten, I decided that the theme for Sepia Saturday in October should be the elements. I have weekly posts featuring earth, water, fire, and air, but you can incorporate any element you like into your featured old photographs - or no element at all. For the final Saturday of the month, which happens to be Halloween, I have invented a new element: ghosts. For this first Friday, I am featuring “earth” and an image from the Flickr Commons collection of the National Library of Ireland. Whatever on earth you decide to dig up for this week’s Sepia Saturday, please do so on or around Saturday, 3 October 2026, and add a link to the list below.
