Sepia Saturday 139 : 18 August 2012

A complete change for our Sepia Saturday prompt this week as we leave the Olympics and all things sporting behind us and turn to .... bones! My selected image comes from the collection of war posters from the National Archives of the UK which has been digitised and made available via Wikimedia.UK Why on earth would they need old bones, you may ask; and another poster provides an answer by listing the various uses salvaged bones can be put to : explosives; lubricating oil; fire resistant paint; animal feed; fertiliser; camouflage materials; glue etc. So if you are a themer this week, as well as an old man and a dog you could go for explosives; lubricating oil; fire resistant paint .... etc. Whatever you go with just post your post on or around Saturday 18th August and add a link to the list below.

As usual here is a quick preview of the next two Sepia Saturday archive images :

Now there's something to get you thinking. But for now just shake your bones and get posting for Sepia Saturday 139.

I'm going to be away so I'm in very early but I didn't want to miss another week!

With a dog in the poster prompt, there could only be
one theme for me -
so see Pets on Parade.

Once again I had resist the urge to delve into my music collection this week. For some reason I had 'Bone Digger, Bone Digger' and 'Get these mutts away from me' from Paul Simon's 'You Can call Me Al' going through my head.

Got done early this week. Several skeleton sketches.

Bones didn't click with me but I have a great dog story, if I do say so myself (not so much the telling -- but the dog is great!)

In praise of the Paragon of Annotation and in response to those who saw me and Amy in the prompt image.

Is it only me but there is no dog that I can see in the main picture?? It appears in the smaller 139 picture at the end.

I have got a perfect fit picture for this weekend's theme. Thanks Alan for another super choice.

Yes - it does seem that the dog has disappeared in the main image. No post from me yet - just commenting on the dog.

My theme is calf meal because of your mention of bones in animal feed.

Hello Alan, I had planned on going to the bones, or boneyard, but then I watched a movie called Cupid Inc. and just had to change my entire post! I hope your weekend is exciting !

I've rummaged through the many skeletons in my closet and dug up as many bones as I could find,
from 1961 'till now!!

Whoops sorry about the picture changing - that was not supposed to happen! I will return the proper one as soon as possible (it's that Amy again and the Begging Dog Liberation Front)

Combining the words ‘war, oil, resistant’ I came to the subject of ‘foul-weather gear’

I missed last week because I was away but this week I felt it in my bones that I could find something suitable.

Bit of a tenuous link with my post about a puppet cat who was a barrow boy...
