Sepia Saturday 779 : 14th June 2025

"Man With A Chair" is a familiar caption for all collectors of old photographs. If old photographs are anything to go by, the average man - and indeed woman - of the first part of the twentieth century did little else but stand next to a chair and have their photograph taken. There are reasons, of course, for the use of chairs as props in early photographs: shutter speeds were slow and subjects had to keep still for a long time. So this week get out your men standing, your women standing and even your chairs standing. Whatever is standing, post you post on or around Saturday 14th June 2025 and add a link to the list below. And whilst you are standing about, take a look at what is next on Sepia Saturday.

Collection this week of different things, and a sepia photo with chairs.

In my old photos, if there is a chair, there is also someone sitting on it....

I've done chairs before so I've assembled a collection of photos around another common household item. At least common in a musician's home.

I thought I had added my comment - but obviously not here. I wrote about chais very recently so my post this week focussed on the tiny detail of the man’s pocket watches - and I had no shortage of matches in my family collection.

With some great matches to the prompt and more sidelights on Gustav and Sally and their life together.

Again with great matches to the prompt photograph and plenty of brick walls as the backcloth to life.
