Sepia Saturday 327 : 23 April 2016

If you inhabit this part of the world you cannot fail to be aware that this Thursday marks the 90th birthday of the British Queen - Elizabeth II. To mark the event our theme image this week features a photograph from 1943 which shows Elizabeth and her sister Margaret as young women who performed in a pantomime production of Aladdin at Windsor Castle. The picture comes from the Daily Herald archives which are now held at the National Media Museum. You might want to go with a royal theme or you might want to go all republican and celebrate pantomimes, ninety, or even the story of Aladdin with all its intrigue and trickery to achieve royal succession. Whatever you go with, just post your posts on or around Saturday 23 April 2016 and add a link to the list below.

While we wait for the curtain to rise on our production, you might want to take a look at what lies ahead in the weeks to come.

All that is for later - for the moment, Ladies and Gentlemen please be upstanding for "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith".

Um . . . Alan, Mr. Linky's Magical Widgets etc. etc. is missing? We do need that in order to post our entries - yes?

Away for the next few weeks but not leaving until tonight so here's a little background to the photo plus a bit more. Happy Birthday, Your Majesty!

What was it Shakespeare said about players upon a stage? He probably didn't mean what I'm sharing, but hey! Actors are actors - whoever and wherever they happen to be!

We always loved the royal sisters until Margaret got so unruly.

This was a hard theme, but I think I've got it. British theater and cross dressers too.

Looking forward to reading Mike's post!! My post is about the time I saw the Queen when I was five.

Looking back to my own roots, no queen. Just Texan and proud of it, as well as an old postcard (of course!)

Thanks for the photo prompt! I used it for a participating post for NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) and the April A to Z Blogging Challenge.
