Sepia Saturday 170 : 30 March 2013

I don't know about you but I could do with a cup of coffee. Or a warming pot of tea perhaps? Whatever your choice of beverage, why not head on down to the local cafe? And if, like these two gents you are on Rowe Street, Sydney, Australia, that would be the Lincoln Coffee Lounge and Cafe (well, at least it would have been back in the late 1940s). Whether you are in Australia or America, Europe or Africa, Asia or Heckmondwyke, there is usually a tea shop or cafe, coffee lounge or milk bar ready and waiting for you to break your journey. And whilst you take a breather, why not get your camera out and take a quick snap? Our theme photograph comes from the collection of the Powerhouse Museum on Flickr Commons. It was taken by Brian Bird and the chap on the right is Dick Gooding, a well known Sydney journalist of the time. The Lincoln was a popular meeting point for artists and writers, so you could also go with that particular thematic thread if you wanted to. Whichever way you decide to go, just post your post on or around Saturday 30th March 2013 and link your post to the Linky List below.

Here is a preview of the next two Sepia Saturday theme images:

171 : Marilyn suggested it was time for an ancient monument (could she have been referring to me?) or at least time for a castle. People have always been fond of taking photographs of grand old monuments so you should have one or two in your collections.

172 : Spring is just around the corner (we are told) and it is time to get your walking boots on, pack your haversack, and head out into the hills and valleys. There is nothing like a jolly hike (I am told).

All that hiking around ancient monuments is for the future. This weekend relax. It is Easter; time to sit down, put your feet up, pour yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy Sepia Saturday 170.

Too cold for me to hang about this week.

Although I am trying to cut down on caffeine, my post this week is most definitely caffinated.

This weekend's theme photo was an opportunity to tell another story of forgotten musical history, and also a chance to showcase what I feel is the most important historical film ever made. Very Sepia.

You might need a second cup of coffee.

Not having any coffee shop photos, I've decided to focus on storefronts instead.

I almost didn't make it this week!!
I had my topic,
but research didn't pan out at all.
Uninspired,
I thought I'd skip this week,
but I didn't.
Spun something almost out of thin air!!!
It's a good thing I had nothing to say...
Wait till next week where I'll have plenty to say!!!...
;)~

A convivial drink abroad is my theme this week. I will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the Castle theme next week - looking forward to it.

Mine's a two-fer. Fits the theme pretty well and completes my efforts to identify the people in a wedding photo I've been working on for weeks now! Whew

In my childhood "going out for coffee" used to mean a picnic rather than going to a café (at least in my family!)
