Sepia Saturday 551 : Christmas & New Year 2020

So here it is - Merry Christmas. S in the Sepia Saturday alphabet takes us to Seasonal Greetings ... and Powers of Waterford for Seeds and Trees. This is our Christmas and New Year prompt for 2020, so you can add your contributions at any time over the next couple of weeks. Just post a post and add a link to the list below.

And that takes us to 2021. What kind of Sepia Saturday do we want for next year? Is it time we called it a day? Are blogs a thing of the past and do we need to move our efforts to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Do we carry on just as we have been doing for the last 150 years? Let me know what you think, I will be happy to do whatever people think is best.

Snow and ice are pretty nice...most of the time.

A Tree of Happy Memories

Trees are planted and they grow and sometimes they get cut down, but sometimes that's okay if it's for a good cause. :)

I wouldn't call it a day just yet. I find myself using Facebook and Instagram less. I only know how to upload new photos on to Instagram.

I do love visiting people's blogs.

I'm back again re the future of Sepia Saturday. I love visiting blogs and the camaraderie of the Sepia Saturday group -- so I would like to see the weekly prompts continue. Facebook and other platforms generate "likes" -- but few people stop by to leave comments directly on a blog. Not so with us Sepians, who regularly read and comment on one another's work. I value the feedback I get from this group -- a connection that was particularly important during this pandemic when many of us are at home, which is likely to be the case next year, too. So if you are able to keep this going, Alan, you would be doing a great and valuable service! Happy Holidays and New Year.

I echo Molly’s comments. I would hate to see Sepia Saturday fold from its present blog format. Facebook entries just flash by and like Molly I have always found the Sepia Saturday community a supportive one and I very much appreciative the thoughtful comments made by fellow bloggers. I realize that after a small rise in participants, numbers have fallen back again, but thank you Alan for all your work in providing us with such stimulating prompt photos to keep our brains active in these challenging times. Yes, do continue!

I heartily agree with Molly and Sue! Sepia Saturday is an anchor for me. Unfortunately, cancer is paying me a third visit, so I may be a little sporadic again in the new year - although I'm hoping not!

I'll post two things today. The first was intended for last week - a continuation of Jesse Bryan.

The second will be Christmas 1959.

If I get the time before the next prompt, I may post a third - to finish up Jesse.

Just in time, I offer a Christmas treat. Only a tiny bit musical.

As always I remain a devoted Saturday Sepian, Alan, and I am very grateful for your inspirational photo prompts. I continue to have fun playing Aunt Miriam's game, and as a writer I like how it gives me a regular deadline. But what I most enjoy is the friendship of our fellow bloggers who meet up each weekend at your virtual pub. Sharing a good story is what blogging is all about, and our favorite audience will always be the friends who know us best.

I hope we keep Sepia Saturday as it is! I enjoy it so much - both the research and challenge to come up with a post that matches or works with the prompt, and also to see what others have come up with. And I enjoy commenting on others' posts, and receiving comments on mine. The whole thing, to me, is just such a positive thing. I would not like to see it get involved with Facebook or anything else. My blog site works just fine with Sepia Saturday and the best part of all is, we've all known each other for quite a while now. We're like happy family members who get together once a week to share things with and support each other. Especially this year, Sepia Saturday has been a real bright spot! :)
