Sepia Saturday 452 : 12 January 2019

Our Sepia Saturday theme image this week features a group of railway workers from Ireland in the 1950s repairing the main line to the south of Ireland after a fire and accident the previous day. The photograph is part of the Flickr Commons stream of the National Library of Ireland. As a prompt, you can follow the line wherever you want to go to, or there again you can ignore the line closure and go exactly where you want to. Just post your post on or around Saturday 12th January 2019 and add a link to the list below.

Here is a preview of our next two prompt images.

I've got a letter (the only surviving one) from a g-g grandfather which was written from the Civil War to his relatives. A photo of the original, and my transcription.

Sepia Saturday Prompt 452's scene of a train accident and the subsequent work of men working on the railroad immediately brought to mind a first cousin 4x removed. It also reminded me of the song 'I've Been Working On The Railroad'.

I've arranged some postcards from WW1 that I think match our theme. Non-musical for a change.

My mind was swirling in a whole other direction. Maybe it was actually a black hole.
