My theme picture this week comes from a new collection of archive photographs from the National Library of Ireland which can be found on Flickr Commons. Taken in September 1910, the photograph shows the offices of the London & North Western Railway Company on The Quay, Waterford, Ireland. Back in the days when I would work for a living, I was a frequent passenger on that advertised railway route which linked "all the principal towns of England and Scotland" with Ireland via Holyhead and Dublin. Even though the old steamboat ferries had been replaced by high-speed catamarans, there was still a slightly sepia feeling about sailing across the Irish Sea. If you are looking for a theme for Sepia Saturday 92 (post your posts on or around Saturday the 17 September 2011) there is a suitcase full in the above image : travel, ships, railways, holidays, shops, Ireland or even hand-carts left leaning against a back street wall. But remember, you don't have to stay on theme (I don't, so why should you!), just pack your digital suitcase with anything a little old and quirky and give us a treat.
SEPIA SATURDAY is a weekly meme which encourages bloggers to publish and share old images and photographs. All that is required is for contributors to post an old image (it doesn't have to be in sepia) and provide a few words in explanation. If you could provide a link back to the Sepia Saturday Blog and visit as many of the other contributors as you can, it would also be appreciated. There is no weekly theme, as such, but some people like to use the archive image published with the weekly call as a kind of theme. There is no requirement to adopt such an approach : the choice of image is entirely up to you. Once you have published your Sepia Saturday post, add a link to that post to the Linky List published each week and leave a comment to let everyone know you are joining in.

Sorry it is a little late going up - I know how you themers out there like plenty of time to search through your collections. Like the London and North Western Railway Company, I will try to be on time next week.
more trains? guess i will be off theme this week.
Trains are one of my favorite topics, so I was glad to have an excuse to post more train postcards this week.
Nice photo ... I have managed to combine trains and ships.
That photo has a lot of information in it. Good choice. I'm on theme this week with a train station.
No trains, but more or less on theme with an excursion or two
I am completely off theme this week unless you could consider that people need to walk this street to get to a train station. That is far fetched, I know, but I am proud I finally did something I wanted to do for a long time, now the picture is framed and hung, I am a happy girl.....
I sailed away with the Irish emigrants from an historic port. I pulled some of Alan’s themes out of the suitcase along the way!
Not on theme unless you consider that many of the thousands of migrants to Detroit in the early 1900s came by train. I look at the lives of my family and their doctors and how racism affected them in Detroit during the 1920s.
I am on theme. It's definitely a train, though not a fast-moving one.
Completely not on theme. I need everyone's input as to whether I have found a memento mori or not.
Some railway station postcards from me this week, showing a south London station from various angles
Hi all, the only train I can offer is a train of thought, but I hope it tickles a few readers.
As to my post itself, life is truly peculiar: seriously, I can't make this stuff up.
I have used up my train photos mostly and although I have the 'puter back and humming along I am out of time to scan, so will show a few more MIL photos...stories to come next week
SO NOT A THEMER THIS WEEK!!
and i can't really talk about it due to some copyright law, but it lead me to something else instead... as usual!!
:)~

No trains - but without ships or plains, my picture would never have been taken! LOL
I'm going with the theme of storefronts with a lot going on.
I am a little on theme this week - but that is by chance rather than design
After several months absence I have a Sepia Saturday post this week; not going with the theme though ;-)
No Trains or boats, just journies to make by bus, by bike or by booted feet.
Shop fronts for me this week, though not in Ireland.
Completely out of the loop this week, but really enjoying everyone else's posts!
What a clear and beautiful photo! You inspired me to post about going camping in the later 1940's ... hope you guys will like it. I'll be visiting everybody soon!

I think I am close to a theme. Traveling on holiday. Some may even recognize the place.
First time participation -though I love trains and train journeys but my contribution is quite different.Hope it will be accepted.Great site and great work presented .Wonderful to preserve national traditions and family history.

Only partially on theme this week. There are a couple of trains amid the steamboats!
