Sepia Saturday 823 : Saturday 25th April 2026

I remember back in the 1950s and 60s, people often wanted their television sets including in photographs; those box-like, round-knobbed sets were the status symbol of their time. There may have been a similar trend in the 1920s to include radios in photographs, but, even I, am not old enough to remember that. So for your theme this week you can choose television sets, or objects, settees or china elephants. As always, the choice is yours - all you need to do is to share an old photograph on or around Saturday 25th April 2026 and leave a link on the list below. Once you've done that you can settle down and see what is to come over the coming weeks on Sepia Saturday.

The last of the Rear Windows saga...it fit in earlier in the week in my postings. Hope that doesn't throw everyone for a loop!

I take a look back at my early TV memories when a small 10 inch screen TV arived in our house in 1953, so we could watch the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

I have an old photo of me "watching" TV at age 2, at my grandpa's house in 1957, when television was new in Sweden. While looking for that photo I also came across one of my first Barbie Dolls from the 1960s, which led to some more memories.

I don't have any television sets in my photo collection, so instead I offer photos of individual men seated in a chair. It's an opportunity to introduce a new collection that is non-musical.

I am off theme this week as I celebrate the 12th Blogiversary of Molly's Canopy, updating where I am at on my blog-to-books journey. But I will say this -- growing up with television has provided endless prompts for stories of all types, as I am sure other Sepians will agree!
