It is time to get your ducks in a row, time to get the family out onto the parade ground, time to get ahead by getting a hat, and a time to reach new heights; as Sepia Saturday enters its eightieth year (or something like that). Our theme image this week - like all the theme images for January - comes from the Flickr Commons collection of the National Library of Ireland and features a 1914 photograph of the Mote Family. Interpret the prompt as you wish, just add an image and a description and post it on or around Saturday 6th January and add a link to the list below.

Sepia Saturday 399 : 23 - 30 December 2017

Well, there we go: another year almost over and another Sepia Festive Season upon us. Traditions that go back decades mean that our Christmas prompt covers both Christmas and the New Year. As you can see it is a Christmas greetings card and it provides us all with an opportunity to create our own sepia cards and share them with other Sepians. Whatever you decide to do, simply post your post on or around Saturday 23rd December 2017 and post a link to the list below. If you want to while away the time over the holiday season you may wish to have a think about what awaits you in the Sepia New Year. Sepia Saturday 398 : 16 December 2017

It's playtime in the snow, winter in the park, swings and slides - or simply black and white. Our theme image this week is one of my own old photographs dating back forty years or so. For the record, it was taken in Crookes Valley Park in Sheffield - so you can add Sheffield and even crook(e)s to the potential theme list. Whatever you decide to go with, simply post your post on or around Saturday 16th December 2017 and add a link to the list below.

Our Sepia Saturday theme image this week features a small boy and a large fish. The identity of the boy is unknown (and, come to think of it, the precise identity of the fish is also unknown) but the photograph was seemingly taken at the Bon Echo Inn, in the Bon Echo Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada. The photograph forms part of the Flickr Commons Stream of the Cloyne & District Historical Society. As usual, you can interpret the prompt in any way you want, all you need to do is to post your post on or around Saturday 9th January 2017 and link it to the list below.

Sepia Saturday 396 : 2 December 2017

Our Sepia Saturday theme image for this week is one of my own photographs which was taken back in the 1960s. It features market stalls in Brighouse, a typical small Yorkshire town. If you are looking for potential themes you can go with markets, vegetables or even headscarves. There is, however, one odd thing about this photograph which makes it a little bit spooky - and you may choose to go with that as a theme. It is one of my negatives, taken with one of my cameras - and, indeed, I can even remember taking it even though it was fifty years ago: but on careful examination, that young lad looking at some of the market produce on the right of the photograph appears to be me! To have taken the photograph and appeared in it must make this one of the earliest selfies!

Sepia Saturday 395 : 25 November 2017

I may have been away for a week or two, but if there is anything guaranteed to get me on the first plane back to Yorkshire, and the first plane back to Sepia Saturday, it is the sight of a group of chaps sat around with bottles of ale. Our theme image comes courtesy of a glass plate negative dating from the last decade of the nineteenth century, which forms part of the Flickr Commons collection of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia. Of course you don't have to follow the beer prompt, there are many other potential themes bottled up within this fine old photograph. All you have to do is to post a post featuring an old photograph on or around Saturday 25th November 2017 and then link it to the list below. Cheers!
