Sepia Saturday 140 : 25 August 2012

I must confess that I always have a bit of a job remembering my wedding anniversary, so this year I hit upon a clever way of doing it. Yes, the Good Lady Wife and I will have been married 39 years on Saturday, and  a picture of a rather smart newly married couple provides us with our theme image. After all the speculation last week, I must point out that it isn't me in the photograph and when Isobel and I married on the 25th August 1973 there was not a top hat in sight. If you are a themer you are sure to have an old wedding photograph in your collection, if you are an indirect themer you will have some stone steps or striped trousers. If you are a non-themer, don't worry just post your post on or around Saturday 25th August, add a link to the list below, and join in the celebrations.

As usual I am providing a look ahead at the next two theme images for Sepia Saturday 141 and 142. Now the eagle eyed among you might think that the theme image for 141 had changed from last week (and you might think that this was due to someone pointing out that I had used that old clock image before). However, you would be wrong. Mistake, me make a mistake! - not a chance. Its the same image - just a different clock, that's all.

So next week it would appear that the theme is all about time - and having been married for 39 years I know all about time. But forget that for now, get out the confetti and put on your best hat - you are all invited to the wedding reception.

Another great topic to have me searching through my
family collection. I have opted for the traditional theme
with a Focus on Fashion and a Century of Wedding Belles,
1879-1971.

Well, can't say that I'm not excited about this one. I am not that much of an old film buff, but I know that many of you are. My post features Alice Faye, Cary Grant and Linda Darnell. Can't wait to read your posts!

I managed to finish slightly earlier this week. Looking forward to reading the other contributions.

Managed to get my submission in a bit earlier this week by multi-tasking. Problem is that I am classicly poor at multi-tasking, so one of the tasks is bound to have gone badly wrong somewhere - I have double-checked the update so hopefully it's not this task.

Oh, my I could give you post after post on the wedding subject! I love wedding photographs. Alas, I am giving you the one and only identified subject in my 1860s photo album, a handsome gent by the name of Milton.

Blogger will not let me post without receiving odd error messages, so instead I will link my post from Thursday. It has nothing to do with weddings unless an old cowpoke or soldier took a liking to a camel. If you look at the posts from Aug. 18 thru the 23 you will see the complete image and specific parts of it enlarged.

The photo is the only known photo showing a camel from the US Cavalry Camel Corp back in 1863. Only a few of these shots are known to exist. I'm now the happy owner of one.

Now I can hope Blogger will allow me to post comments around the Sepia Saturday universe.

Five weddings and a honeymoon, that's my harvest for this week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do all the other posts.

Not as fancy a wedding as your's Alan but one in the family. And family connections to Abraham Lincoln.

Not only have I managed to provide a reminder for my anniversary, I have also turned my post into an anniversary card, thus saving a pound or two.

Sort of a themer, almost accidentally, with this very short post. I'll have to do double duty this weekend as I didn't get to visit you folks this last week. Was busy!! But I now have a few days off so I'll get to enjoy your offerings. Looking forward to that.
Have a great weekend!!

Greetings Alan and happy anniversary to you and your lovely wife! I should be able to remember your day, since on this day in 1988 I had a baby boy! So much celebrating on boths side of the world! I did stay some what on theme, but since I posted a few wedding photos last week-I brought in knickers and some up to the wedding moments! Enjoy your marriage celebrations !

I originally wrote what I thought was a wonderful post linking 6 generations and my mom asked me not to share it... so I had to think quickly. But - thank you so much for giving a framework to our blogs - much appreciated!

A photo of my great-aunt and her hubby on their wedding day. Quite the elegant couple, don't you think?

I've been saving a photo of a married couple for a special occasion, and this weekend's theme is perfect.

So many possibilities, but narrowed it down to just one wedding - selected by the bouquet.
