Sepia Saturday 819 (28th March 2026)

When I chose this theme image a month or so ago, I never for a second realised how topical it might become! Let us, however, leave all current conflicts aside, because here on Sepia Saturday we have the pleasure of looking back and not looking forward. So search out your old photographs of military shells, sea shells, women workers or whatever ... all that matters is that it is old and you want to share it. You can do so by posting a post on or around Saturday 28th March 2026 and adding a link to the list below. Once you have done that, you can see what April has to offer.

Sepia Saturday 818 : 21st March 2026

You can't beat a string quartet - unless it is with a string quintet. This week on Sepia Saturday we are asking you to get your strings out or even your piano keys out. And if you have neither we will accept any instrument or indeed any reference to music in any form. And this being Sepia Saturday, you know that if you have no old photographs featuring music ... we will accept anything at all. The only rule is that it must be old (you can define what constitutes old) and it must be posted on or around Saturday 21st March 2026. Now take it away and leave a link on the list below. And while you fiddle with that, take a look at what is coming next on Sepia Saturday

Sepia Saturday 817 : Saturday 14th March 2026

Our Sepia Saturday prompt this week features a happy family group heading off somewhere with smiles on their faces and carrying suitcases. Given that the photograph dates from 1940 and the man in the photograph is in uniform, one can rightly be anxious that the smiles and the happiness are misplaced. Let us hope not, and let us try to celebrate happy family occasions and journeys here on Sepia Saturday by sharing old photographs on or around Saturday 14th March 2026. And whilst we are waiting for the boat to leave, take a look at what comes next here on Sepia Saturday.

Sepia Saturday 816 : 7th March 2026

Our trawl through the photographic archives that are part of the magnificent Flickr Commons initiative has this week taken us to the Netherlands and the photographic collection of the Dutch National Archives.  Our theme image has three intrepid campers in a tent listening to the weather forecast on a transistor radio. You can go with the weather, with camping, with transistor radios over whatever you want to. Just pitch your tent, along with your post, on or around Saturday 7th March 2026 and add a link to the list below. And once you have done so you can start thinking about your Sepia contributions for the rest of the month. Here are the prompt images:-
