Sepia Saturday 101 : Saturday 19 November 2011

First of all a big thank you to everyone who took part in Sepia Saturday 100 : it was the biggest and the best so far and the host of brilliant contributions made it a memorable occasion. It was a fine weekend of celebration and I have decided to leave the party in style in "the greatest Chevrolet in Chevrolet history". My illustration this week comes from the collection of the National Library of New Zealand and it shows the front cover of a 1930 Chevrolet sales catalogue. If you are wanting a theme for Sepia Saturday 101 (post your post on or around Saturday 19th November 2011) there are themes a-plenty in the illustration. It doesn't matter if you don't want to follow a theme : all we need from participants is an interesting old image and a few new memories.

If themers want to give their readers a representation of the original theme image I am including a smaller version which you can include in your post if you would like to. So, here I go, jumping into my smart new car ("a six in the price range of the four") and speeding off to my next century of Sepia Saturday calls.

Hi, I just stopped by to see what this week's theme is ... love the new personalized "coupon" look. I don't know yet if I'll be on theme or not, but I'm looking forward to see what we all come up with. Thanks!

I love the idea of including the prompt with the logo. would be swell if you made it a regular feature as I always include the SS logo in my posts.

The colours and style of the advert nudged me off on a new line of communication! I like the mini logo too as it allows readers to refer easily to the prompt. Well done Alan, always something new.

Biggest and best so far - woo hoo! As a petrolhead, the car theme has my brain working for Saturday coming :-) Jo

I was half-expecting an Orwellian, Sepia Saturday room 101 theme for the 101st edition ;-)

Having been late for the past 2 weeks, I am alarmingly early for this week's submission.

My theme is vintage graphics with cars and Minnesota vacations.

Love the new mini-logo. My auto tour heads to the slopes instead of the beach. Thoroughly enjoyed looking at old car photos for this one!

I've actually done two posts for this lovely theme. You'll find photos of men with cars at my vernacular photography site and a link to my ephemera site where you'll find a fun old promotional piece for 1937 Studebakers.

As usual Alan and Kat, thanks!

This week's contribution is a little early and is linked to a transport theme from the late 1950s.

Finally, I manage to do a SS post earlier than 8pm on a Saturday! Thanks for the inspiration, Alan, and congrats on SS100 :-)

An old car and a group of people feature in my post but of a different time and era to the one above.

Cleages with a car, about 1928.

Good Lord, I just spent 3 hours on this one post this morning! I stayed on topic for a minute and then dug deeper into the Johnsons of Summers, Arkansas. Still need to fine-tune but wanted to get it on here.

I can't wait to visit everybody and see what you have for us this week.

Oh my, all these photos are just great! But I just love the first one...too funny...and the one with your mother and all her baby dolls, and but of course the family auto in there too..your grandpa Vince handsome..and I was just at Disneyland two weeks ago at that very Dumbo ride...although they are all painted much darker and brighter today! Thanks for this lovely post!
