Sepia Saturday 331 : 21 May 2016

Our Sepia Saturday 331 theme image shows three award winning babies at a 1938 Baby Show which was part of fundraising efforts for the Dartford Hospital in Kent. The picture was taken by the Daily Herald Staff Photographer, Reuben Sandman, and forms part of the Daily Herald Archive which is held by the National Media Museum. Selections from the archive - including this photograph  - form part of the National Media Museum Flickr Commons stream.

Now if you look carefully you might notice that one of the babies is quite visibly upset - and emotion that is clearly not shared by the appropriate mother. You might want to search through your photograph collections in search of photographs of people who are upset, or people who are sat on trestle tables, or babies, or keys or even pink elephants (we have always had a relaxed relationship with rules here on Sepia Saturday). Whatever you decide to go with, just post your post on or around Saturday 21 May 2016 and add a link to the list below.

If you are competitive and want to get a winning start in your entry for future Sepia Saturday calls, here is a sneak preview of what lies ahead. For Sepia Saturday 331 just try to smile and look as beautiful as possible.

But don't get upset, that is all for the future. For the moment, just give us your best smile, look as though you are enjoying yourself and get ready for Sepia Saturday 331.

Mother and child, as it is represented in all cultures.

A baby, a mother, a father, and a tuba. A very short story too.
