So do we have a theme? It is interesting to note that since I have been touring the photographic archives in search of an image for the weekly Sepia Saturday Call, several people have used whatever image I have come up with as a theme for their own posts (last week, for example, there were a number of posts reflecting either the canning industry or hats). It was never my intention to inject a theme element into Sepia Saturday : but there again I never intended to launch Sepia Saturday in the first place. Sepia Saturday had always sauntered, aimlessly, through life (which, I think, is one of its' strengths; there is not enough aimless sauntering in this world). So if some people want to saunter aimlessly in the direction of seeking out a theme, so be it. But this is an image-based meme, so let us make things interesting for the "themers" amongst us and let them determine - from the heading photo each week - what, for them, the theme might be. For the "non-themers" let them continue to post whatever image they wish : the only rule remains - an old photograph and a few words.
So whether you are a themer or a non-themer, the next Sepia Saturday (No 59) will be on Saturday 29 January 2011. Just post your posts on or around then and link them to the Linky List below.

I like to follow a theme if I can, but ice cutting is quite a challenge. So instead I have become a 'non-themer' this week with something about the war poet, Rupert Brooke.
I hope I have broken the ice with this.
With the unrest in Egypt, I wanted show vintage photos and some more recent ones. . . so I guess I'm a non-theme person.
That postcard is amazing. I have been to Robin Hood park in Keene as I live only two hours from there. Little did I know that an ice harvesting operation existed there. Thanks for sharing!
I have nothing about ice fishing nor ice hauling to follow such a theme, but I do have a couple old photos which can concoct all sorts of tales...I think I will saunter along.....aimlessly as I agree we don't do that near enough.
I am themeless today, but I like the idea. I might try for it in the future. Bob certainly did an impressive job with it this week!
Oh thank goodness about being able to not follow a theme...other than sepia, because I've had great fun randomly picking things...although I may give it a try if your post looks like something I could follow....but ice and cold and brrr...is for sure not a good topic for now...hopefully spring is coming! I like this photo though...they look so determined!
Mine is up. No link to any theme, just an aimless scoot down Memory Lane.
(I am aware that some people have had problems with the Linky Thing - let me know if these are continuing)
i couldn't have given you ice, maybe just a bit of snow only, so, a memer, not a themer this week, as i venture on my own, in my city!! ENJOY!!
:)~

Can not think of a ice picture in my photo collection. Sharing a picture of my great grand uncle.
My son wanted to go ice fishing today but too much snow to safely travel up the north shore today.
No pictures of ice or snow that I have found so far in my box of photos, so for my first Sepia Saturday Post I will to go with something else :)
The ice cutting photo is great and ties in with my own father's experiences as described to me by his half-sister, I chose to stay inside today with my photos. Happy Saturday!
I'm Back! Hurray!!! I might even have a theme next week!
As close as my post will get to a theme is the possible coldness that ran through the lives of the people I have been showing for the past week. Or perhaps I should simply say it's a cold case, an unsolved mystery.
Good, I managed to post on time! I've been perusing a box of my late in-laws photos and came across these, which of course, lead to me remembering stories ...
I did have an icy photograph but decided to do one of a family gathering on a summer day instead.
We didn't have much ice where my family lived, but we had lots of water. It's been a while, and I'm glad to be back. Looking forward to reading all the posts.
I wasn't going to post because I missed Saturday, but your photo inspired me to post the photos of my family at my great uncle's logging camp from 1947. Not quite as cold, but difficult work just the same. Sepia Sunday today. :-)
Thanks for the inspiration!
