Sepia Saturday 128 : 2 June 2012

Let's have a song for a change. Over here in Britain we are having an extra long public holiday to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and there will be street parties, parades and jollification of all types. Who knows, I might have a drink or two and get a little merry and emotional. I might even break into song, and if I do that better song to sing that that old Sophie Tucker number "I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" (I have drawn a polite veil over its alternative title). The image comes from the collection of the State Library of Queensland, Australia on Flickr Commons and features a rather splendid photograph of Miss Sophie Tucker herself. There are all sorts of places you can go with this archive image, all sorts of themes you could follow. I will leave it all to your collective imaginations. Our theme image for Sepia Saturday 127 - post your posts on or around Saturday 26 May 2012 - comes from the collection of the National Library of Ireland on Flickr Commons. It was taken, probably in 1910,  by the photographer A H Poole and features the market at Ballybricken Green in Waterford. For those in search of prompts there are prompts-a-plenty : markets, cows, tea and coffee stalls. And of course you don't have to follow any theme, just post a post based on an old image and link to the list below.

Sepia Saturday 126 : 19 May 2012

Oh dear! I have a confession to make. I have forgotten where I got this archive image from! It could be anywhere : anyone with a box-full of old photographs will have a similar shot in their collection. Such a photograph is as much a part of a wedding as a cake, a top hat, or a bunch of flowers. So my challenge for Sepia Saturday 126 is an easy one - give us a group, give us a wedding, give us a top hat - or give us anything at all. Just post your posts, on or around Saturday the 19th May and link the posts using the list below. Try and stop by and visit as many of the others taking part as possible and .... help yourself to a glass of champagne.

Sepia Saturday 125 : 12 May 2012

My archive image for Sepia Saturday 125 shows the Royal Kitchen at Windsor Castle in 1878. The photograph forms part of the recently released Queen Victoria Online Scrapbook, and I note that it is listed as being copyright of HM the Queen. I suspect that she is a little too busy to be bothered with my request to reproduce the image - so I will assume she has no objections. For the themers out there, you can go where you want with this one : kitchens, food, your royal aunt Mary-Anne ... whatever. Or you can ignore the table d'hôte menu and choose whatever you want from the à la carte menu instead. Whatever you choose, just post your post on or around Saturday 12 May 2012 and add a link to the list below.

Sepia Saturday 124 : 5 May 2012

Our picture this week comes from the photographic archives of the State Library of Queensland, Australia and is entitled "Children enjoying a ride on the miniature railway at the Brisbane Ekka in 1948" The "Ekka" is the local name for the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds where exhibitions and other events have been held since the staging of the first Queensland Intercolonial Exhibition in 1876. Those Sepia Saturday participants who like a theme to follow can find prompts a-plenty in this image : trains, things in miniature, steam, days out and the ubiquitous hats of the age. Or you can ignore themes all together and just let us have an old image and some new thoughts. Whatever you decide to do, do it on or around Saturday the 5th May 2012, and then link your post to the list below.
