Sepia Saturday 110 : Saturday 28 January 2012


Thanks for all of your theme suggestions last week: we should have enough to get us through the cold winter months. I will work my way through them in the coming weeks. This week I am taking a theme from the list provided by STEPH over at LADIES IN MONOCHROME : Theatre. The photograph is taken from the collection of the Cheshire County (New Hampshire)  Historical Society and comes, as usual, via Flickr Commons. Although it is called the Majestic Theatre, it seems that the building was only ever used as a cinema and at its height it boasted that "two miles of film were shown at each performance" to the people of Keene and Cheshire County.

But if you want a theme for Sepia Saturday 110 you can put on your own performance with any interpretation of theatre you care to choose. Just post your post on or around Saturday the 28th of January 2012 and add a link to the list below. All I need to say now is, "Tickets please".

    I was mostly a 'behind the scenes' person where theatre was concerned! :) But no buildings to show, as they were open air productions I got involved with...

    I love old theatres, they have a bit of pizazz about them. By coincidence we used to have a Majestic Theatre in my home town (long gone) but I have no pictures of it so have moved onto the stage.

    Howard, some time in the late 19th century there was a bill passed through Congress that allowed for changing the "re" to "er", dropping the h at the end of burgh, shortening town names to no more than two words, e.g. New York versus New York City, and a few other things. It apparently was confusing people. Whatever, huh.

    I have a curious photo of a vaudevillian actor known for being the less famous son of a famous yodeler. How's that for publicity?

    I have an actress up today. Also, please be aware that I'm in the process of moving my blog over to Wordpress (with a swanky .co.uk adress!), so although Blogger will work for now, the new address should eventually change!     Oh heavens Alan, the theater in my hometown was named The Majestic. Long gone now and not handsome as this one. I had to get a little creative with my photo description.

    I couldn't find my ticket Alan, so I had to travel by a different route through Sepia Saturday, but I had lots of fun doing it. Except I've opened myself up for more research! During a busy work month too! Oh no! ....enjoy your weekend Alan and all!

    Okay, there are lots of great entries this week and I've been trying to read them all but its been a hectic week so I have a lot of catching up to do.
