Our theme this month on Sepia Saturday is "New Arrivals" and right in the middle of the month we have the 750th week of the internet meme that celebrates the very opposite of all things new and allows us to share our love of old photos. It is, however, possible to combine the two, to link new and old. Most collectors of old photographs know the thrill of the arrival of a new batch of old photographs. You can celebrate that, this week, or new discoveries, or new interpretations or - being Sepia Saturday which has battled against rules for 750 weeks now - anything you want as long as it is somehow linked to old photographs. Share your love of the old and the excitement of the new on or around Saturday 16th November 2024 and add a link to the list below. And leaving Sepia Saturday 750 behind us, we march on to Sepia Saturday 1,000 - here is a preview of the next couple of themes.
That's a lotta weeks! Yay for us!!! And especially you, Alan, for keeping us going! Thank you so much for your dedication! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gail, for mentioning me in your introduction. Your post is a wonderful way to celebrate 750 weeks of Sepia Saturday . My favourite photos are the lovely costumes you feature. Good luck in your wish to do something different with the Pine. Cone Singers - go for it in a new costume!!
DeleteA look back at the photographs that came my way from reconnecting with relatives and third cousins discovering my blog. Thank you, Alan, for 750 weeks of blog challenges to keep us on our toes. - I would not want to do without it!
ReplyDelete750 weeks, that is more than 14 years! I admire your endurance!! Time for a new book? Anyway, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for having this meme going so long. I know it's not always easy. But for me it's worth it!
ReplyDeleteI've not participating all the way from the beginning, but I too have found it inspiring and a help to "get on" with going through old photos and postcards. This week - digging into an envelope of photos from the late 1920s that never made it to the "official" family albums.
ReplyDeleteI think I've just made deadline as it's just 11:50 PM Eastern Time. My offer is a mix of new/old photos that I've recently added to my collection. Mostly musical.
ReplyDeleteTo Monica - I love the chance to look through collections of old photographs, and it is great that you could identify the people in them. The bane of family historians is photographs that have been kept by families, so must have had some emotional value at one time, but the people in them have not been named! I have encountered that and it is so frustrating!
