Sepia Saturday 743 : 28th September 2024

We end our Highs and Lows month on something of a low - but if you are going to be low down deep under the ocean, you are best dressed in a divers' suit. Sometimes when we look through our collections of old photographs, we come across those that simply defy explanation. Why did Aunty Miriam get photographed rider a turkey, why did Uncle George dress up as an elephant .... why did the actress Sarah Bernhardt have her photograph taken with a man in a diving suit? So this week you can bring us your odd, your unexplained, your curious, your divers, your actresses, your whatever you want. Just bring them on or around Saturday 28th September 2024 and add a link to the list below. And then, whilst you are decompressing, take a look at what is in store in October.

  1. And so I conclude September's "Highs & Lows" with both in the same photo. :)

  2. Mine is not highs and lows, but rather an "unexpected" meetup of Uncle Fred and an Army nurse from back home.

  4. A Bird's Eye View is my take on this month's Highs and Lows theme.

  5. FYI, I am adding a comment about the hurricane and flooding on the East Coast of the U.S. Asheville, NC was hard hit — and both Barb and Mike, who usually post here weekly, live there. Neither posted this week — the city is in rescue mode right now — so I am posting a wish here that they are OK and safe in the midst of the severe flooding.

  6. Thanks Molly. I have evacuated my safe apartment which had no elec. or water or even cell connections. I needed to use my breathing equipment too, so I'm grateful a nearby cousin invited me to stay with him a while. I saw so much coming together to solve the situations between neighbors, but it is definitely going to be very hard on some of them. I'm among the more able seniors, not reliant on an electric wheel-chair, or anything but my C-PAP. I hope someone is providing more care soon for my neighbors who need more than just bottled water.

    1. I am so relieved to hear that you are OK, Barb, and have a safe place to stay for a while. Such a devastating situation. Glad that everyone is pulling together to help one another. Still waiting to hear from Mike, who many not have internet, that he and his family are OK.
