The other day I took my grandson to the swings in the local park, and I suddenly remembered being taken to similar swings by my own father almost seventy years earlier. Swings, seesaws and roundabouts are the architecture of our childhood, and have been for a hundred years or more. Our Sepia Saturday theme image this week celebrates such architecture and provides us all with an opportunity to share old photographs of childhood. Simply post your post on or around Saturday 25 January 2020 and add a link to the list below.
Whilst you are waiting for the swings to become free, why not take a look at what is further around the Sepia Saturday roundabout.
Kids just wanna have fun!
ReplyDeleteThe safety police would be shuddering at this shot. So many regulations these days. It's a wonder we even survived our childhoods.
ReplyDeleteI took some time looking through the family photos to find some of the children playing (or smiling with toys of some ilk.)
ReplyDeleteThe backyard swing set from 1960 to 2020
ReplyDeleteStill swinging along with reports on my recent NYS Archives & Library research trip. This week: A family history find in Gloversville city directories.
ReplyDeleteNo swing sets, but I did find some vintage family photos of kids having fun in the 1950s and 1930s.
ReplyDeleteI'm back with part 2 of my series on three talented sisters. It's long but I hope everyone will hang on to the end.
ReplyDeleteI wish you would change the prompt picture on Wednesday if that's possible? Waiting till later makes it a little difficult at times.
ReplyDeleteSecond in my accident series of children playing in Brucknell in country Victoria.
