Perhaps we ought to introduce advertising to Sepia Saturday as a way of earning a little spending money on the side. And once I had earned it, I could spend it on coffee or custard or chocolate or a nice pork sausage. Our theme image for this week asks you to seek out any adverts in your collection - either up front or in the background - and feature them in your post on or around Saturday 27th October 2018. Whilst you are chewing that over, take a look at what lies ahead.
Yesterday I came across some old Freedom Now Party campaign posters from 1963 and today I found that the theme is posters. No wall, but several posters.
ReplyDeleteAfter a lull in blogging activity. I am back with a look at advertising with family connections.
ReplyDeleteNo pictures of advertisements in my photo collection, so to the rescue Consumer Reports' back page, funnily erroneous, adverts. Hope they bring you a laugh or two!
ReplyDeleteGreetings. Nice to be back here after a month-long break with a new series about my 4th grade teacher Miss Helen George -- one of those friends, associates and neighbors (FANs) who had an impact on my life.
ReplyDeleteMy being a docent at the Swannanoa Valley History Museum gave me opportunity to find posters...and signs, and early prescriptions that are on display.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I could use this theme as I have very few photos of buildings or posters. But then I remembered I have a small collection of 19th century trade cards. So I have a match and it's musical too.
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt! Thanks for the inspiration.
