Sepia Saturday 119 : Work

After a whole host of leisure related themes - going out, games, books. and the theatre - it is time for a bit of work; after all isn't life a tapestry made up of work, rest and play? So our theme this week is work : work in all its' manifestations; hard work, long work, dirty work, great work, important work, any work. So you can start going through your collections of old photographs to see what you can come up with and work towards a post that will be published on or around Saturday 31 March 2012. As always, post your post, link it to the list below and get around and visit as many other sepia bloggers as possible. Get working!

  1. Woops, forgot to give the details about the image. As usual it is from Flickr Commons and the details are as follows:

Answering the nation's need for womanpower, Mrs. Virginia Davis made arrangement for the care of her two children during the day and joined her husband at work in the Naval Air Base, Corpus Christi, Texas. Both are employed under Civil Service in the Assembly and repair department. Mrs. Davis' training will enable her to take the place of her husband should he be called by the armed service

My post this week is about my working dad, and not just at the office.

  14. When I hear the word "work" I can't help but think of Maynard G. Krebs from the Dobie Gillis Show and his high pitched squawk of the word "WORK!" every time it was mentioned. I don't imagine he'd relish doing the work I show in my photos.

And yes, Barbara and Nancy, commenting at Word Press can be difficult. They are demanding and unforgiving. I do have an account with them I never use, but now must access in order to leave comments. Even then at times nothing will go through.

  15. When I click on Christine, Blogger says her blog has been removed. I went to last week's theme and tried clicking from there and I got the same message. I hope this is a temporary glitch.

  16. Ditto on Maynard Krebs and "WORK" But I'm up with a rerun photo and some new information...ahhhhh that work seems something long ago and far away---for that I am thankful...but where has the week gone?

  17. When I saw this week's work theme, I immediately thought of two songs from Disney's Snow White movie, "Whistle While You Work" & "Heigh Ho Heigh Ho, If's Off To Work We Go."

  20. An odd post for me this week, totally based on web research, but still about my mom, at work,somehow... and the memories I've kept from those times. It's sketchy at best, but that's what I could come up with.
