MRS MARVEL of the Blog WHO WERE THEY? provided us with a wonderful list of potential themes the other week which started off with : Men with facial hair and Women with facial hair? How could I resist such a theme suggestion and to illustrate it I am using a picture of the American painter William Morris Hunt which comes from the Smithsonian Institutes' stream on Flickr Commons. If you so choose you can extent the theme to head hair as well as facial hair. Indeed, if you so choose, you can extend, twist, plat or braid the theme in any way you want to. Just post your posts on or around Saturday 10th March 2012 and include a link to the list below.
As I explained last week I am current letting my hair down on holiday and therefore I only hope that this call will magically appear at the right time. If I can find a WiFi signal I will be observing your contributions from afar.
Hi Alan, Kat and All ~
ReplyDeleteThis post is off topic, again, but I worked hard on my storytelling with memories of my grandparents store.
I might just make a second quick hair post later this week though, if I find the right photo.
Hope your vacation is super fun!

Suggestion: How about Scouting photos? March 12, 2012 is the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts & the Boy Scouts just had their 100th Birthday. Old scouting photos would be fun to see.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog. What a great concept.
How about a non-pc theme like people posing with cigarettes? There must be loads of those around. And they are great fun to look at. The art of looking cool with a bowler hat, a cane and a cigarette dangling at the very edge of the lips is no easy task.
All the best,
Abby N.
My local market stall came up with hirsute sepia subjects this week.
ReplyDeleteAnother busy week for me, so I won't be participating this time, but hope to be back next week.
ReplyDeleteI have an old shaving postcard I was saving for the proper time to post. I was going to do a short post, but then I got sidetracked by an old Barbers' Journal I found online.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm tickled! I'm afraid I can't meet my own suggestion of women with facial hair but I have some hairy photos for sure! Thanks for picking one of my ideas. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis gave me the opportunty to pay tribute to my great-grandfather. The moustache was just an add-on :)
ReplyDeleteMy beard has grown a lot so I could have posted a picture of myself, but somehow I think that's not what this site is about. But I've found a female with lots of facial hair :-).
ReplyDeleteI have no beards to show but a good head of curls.
ReplyDeleteI've tracked down some family facial hair but nothing as extensive as William Morris Hunt.
ReplyDeleteway off topic from me again...
ReplyDeleteFour beards in the family album this week. I hope hair on the head is coming up soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is almost too easy, Alan, but it made a wonderful connect between several photos that I had been thinking of presenting. Embrace the fuzz.
ReplyDeleteMan that guy's got a heck of a beard. My post is rather "hairy" too. lol Looking forward to seeing all these hairy posts! :)
ReplyDeleteSo,
ReplyDeleteI got a bit silly with the theme.
So?
Sue me!!
;)~
HUGZ
I'm taking "part" in this weeks hairy theme.
ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks for the warm welcome last week. I've already checked out some great Sepia Saturday posts tonight. Look forward to seeing more tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit under the weather this morning, but I hope to have a look around at other posts later!
I've gone on a bit of a tangent for this week's theme, but I hope you like it!
A double dose this week - facial hair and a stylish hairdo :o)
ReplyDeleteWell my post not so much hairy or bearded, (of course mentioned) but I had other avenues and bricks and wood to explore.....I hope your travels are exciting Alan, and that you are getting lots of photos!
ReplyDeleteCrazy as a Fox ... I enjoyed your post, but I couldn't figure out how to leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteSome great beards here. I've managed to find a full, but modest beard, and also some great "pork chop" sideburns.
ReplyDeleteHair's my entry for this week :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading everyone else's!
Whew! I'm late to the party, but I made it.
ReplyDeleteLife interfered last week, and I wasn't able to get around to the other posters or to respond to the wonderful comments left on my own blog. This week I'll make up for it. I promise.
That's a mega-beard compared to the measly 'tache offerings I found this week :-) Jo
ReplyDeletea theme of poses involving a dangling cigarette sounds good to me. I have noticed several cool smokers in my stash.
ReplyDeleteI knew I would find some gems in an old magazine, my challenge was finding the time to scan them in!
ReplyDeleteOops! I just added a link, then started reading comments and discovered I'm on last week's post, to which I've already linked. Sorry. Guess I'm not awake yet.
