Sepia Saturday 116 : Hair

MRS MARVEL of the Blog WHO WERE THEY? provided us with a wonderful list of potential themes the other week which started off with : Men with facial hair and Women with facial hair?  How could I resist such a theme suggestion and to illustrate it I am using a picture of the American painter William Morris Hunt which comes from the Smithsonian Institutes' stream on Flickr Commons. If you so choose you can extent the theme to head hair as well as facial hair. Indeed, if you so choose, you can extend, twist, plat or braid the theme in any way you want to. Just post your posts on or around Saturday 10th March 2012 and include a link to the list below.

As I explained last week I am current letting my hair down on holiday and therefore I only hope that this call will magically appear at the right time. If I can find a WiFi signal I will be observing your contributions from afar.

  1. Hi Alan, Kat and All ~

This post is off topic, again, but I worked hard on my storytelling with memories of my grandparents store.

I might just make a second quick hair post later this week though, if I find the right photo.

Hope your vacation is super fun!

  2. Suggestion: How about Scouting photos? March 12, 2012 is the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts & the Boy Scouts just had their 100th Birthday. Old scouting photos would be fun to see.

  3. Hi,

Just discovered your blog. What a great concept.

How about a non-pc theme like people posing with cigarettes? There must be loads of those around. And they are great fun to look at. The art of looking cool with a bowler hat, a cane and a cigarette dangling at the very edge of the lips is no easy task.

    All the best,
    Abby N.

  6. I have an old shaving postcard I was saving for the proper time to post. I was going to do a short post, but then I got sidetracked by an old Barbers' Journal I found online.

  9. My beard has grown a lot so I could have posted a picture of myself, but somehow I think that's not what this site is about. But I've found a female with lots of facial hair :-).

  14. This is almost too easy, Alan, but it made a wonderful connect between several photos that I had been thinking of presenting. Embrace the fuzz.

  25. Whew! I'm late to the party, but I made it.

Life interfered last week, and I wasn't able to get around to the other posters or to respond to the wonderful comments left on my own blog. This week I'll make up for it. I promise.
