On my world tour of photographic archives, I have left my own island and sailed over to Norway. My feature photograph is a Cabinet Card portrait of the famous Norwegian violinist, Ole Bull. In the 1850s Bull left his native Norway and moved to the United States where he founded a colony in Pennsylvania which was known as New Norway or Ole Bull Colony.
Before issuing my usual call for participation for Sepia Saturday 54, I am delighted to tell you that Sepia Saturday contributor, CeCe Moore, has had her blog "My Tangled Vine" nominated as one of the 40 Best Genealogy Blogs by Family Tree Magazine. You can add your vote by following the link to CeCe's blog. Best of luck to her from all her fellow Sepia Saturdayers.
The 20 or 30 Best blogs in the entire world contribute each week to Sepia Saturday. You can join them for Sepia Saturday 54 (on or around 18th December 2010) by adding a link to the Linky List below.
Going with the musical theme there is an organ in the photo of my mother.
ReplyDeleteI don't have my post ready yet for Saturday, but I just want to say THANK YOU to Alan and to you all for your support. If it wasn't for you and Sepia Saturday, I wouldn't be nominated. I was quite sick in October and was unable to post much, but I made sure that I didn't miss Sepia Saturday because I enjoy you all so much. Because of this, I had just enough posts to qualify (minimum 4 per month) for the nomination!

A SEPIA CONSULTATION
ReplyDeleteJust a quick comment to see what people would like to do about Sepia Saturday over the next couple of weeks. As you will know, the next SS falls on Christmas Day and the one after that on New Years Day, and I suspect many of us will be otherwise occupied. But equally the possibility of having to go three weeks without our sepia tonic is a little daunting. Therefore can I float a suggestion? What I propose is an open Sepia Saturday which I could put up early next week and it could then stay up until after New Year. People can post and link when they want and as many times as they want over that period. And then we would return to the normal Sepia Saturday arrangements on Saturday 8th January. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
Alan
Alan, your suggestion sounds fine to me.
ReplyDeleteMy post this week connects a bull to daffodils so I suppose there is a nebulous link to your Ole.
Congratulations, CeCe!
ReplyDeleteAlan, great idea, I was also thinking how to solve next two weeks issue
ReplyDeleteAlan, That sounds good to me. Thanks TSF!
ReplyDeleteYour suggestion is great, thanks for thinking of it.
ReplyDeleteMy post for today is about wartime Christmas postcards.
That sounds good Alan, Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I have anything vaguely musical that I could use to continue the theme this week, but I have unearthed something close(ish) to your home Alan.
ReplyDeletesounds good to me Alan, lets have holidays and go with the flow....at first I thought you were making this up, Ole Bull! I guess it is true.
ReplyDeleteI may have had to spend time at the local library for net access this week, but I'm not going to allow bandwidth to keep me from Sepia Saturday. A Christmas Sepia Saturday with a puzzle to solve.
ReplyDeletesounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteI think a multi week SS is just fine and it might even inspire me to find a sepia holiday photo to feature.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to CeCe - that is exciting! Best of luck!!
My SS post for this week features a storefront with a variety of goods in the window, advertisements for laxatives and a cat. :-)
I like your suggestion, Alan. I was trying to decide today whether to plan on posting next Saturday and whether others would view posts or not. Your idea solves the problem quite well. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks whowerethey! My post for this week is another photo from Great Aunt Gladys'album - this time unidentified.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week everyone!
CeCe
Thanks for all the Feedback, unless anyone comes in at the last minute with any big objections we will run with the SSS (Season-Long Sepia Saturday) My post this week sends seasonal greetings to the unsung heroes of all Sepia Saturday posts.

ReplyDeleteAlan - great idea, I get to do lots of holiday Sepia Saturdays! Woo hoo! Jo
I object, no not really, I think it is a great idea. Being that I post in the morning and forget to connect until late at night I need a few weeks to blunder through. Thanks for all your work on the Sepia Saturday preparations that you do.
ReplyDeletei meant to postdate my two posts for xmas and new year, and link them at the appropriate moment, so, i have no issue with ALAN's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteBUT!!
