Sepia Saturday 365 : 29th April 2017

Woman Hanging Laundry from Tenement Porch. Manchester, New Hampshire (1936) New York Public Library Digital Collection

Our theme image this week comes from the on-line digital collection of the New York Public Library. What immediately appealed to me about the image was the geometry of it and you may want to provide examples of lines and angles within pictures from your own collections. There again you may want to display your dirty washing in public - as ever the choice is yours. Simply hang your stuff out on or around Saturday the 29th April 2017 and leave a link on the list below. And whilst your washing is drying, have a look at what is further down the line.

Sepia Saturday 364 - 22nd April 2017

This week we are featuring another image from the online collection of glass negatives held by Sutton Archives and featured on their "Past On Glass" webpage. The theme prompt features a 1907 school sports day at Carshalton Convent and may give rise to a variety of interpretations. Whichever interpretation you adopt, post a post featuring one of your old photographs on or around Saturday 22nd April 2017 and link it to the list below.

Before you start leap-frogging to the starting line of the egg and spoon race, you might want to take a look at the next two themes for Sepia Saturday.

Sepia Saturday 363 : 15 April 2017

Shadows And Light (Unknown Date And Subjects - Alan Burnett's Collection)

Our theme image this week is taken from an old scanned negative of unknown origin which forms part of my ever-expanding collection of long-lost photographs and negatives. It appealed to me for a number of reasons - it's a great composition, a fine study in shadows and light and a perfect, unposed portrait of two children. You can use any of these as your prompt, or interpret the image in whichever way you like. All you have to do is to give us an old image and some new words on or around Saturday 15th April 2017.

As usual, here is a preview of the next two Sepia Saturday themes.

Sepia Saturday 362 : 8 April 2017

Our Sepia Saturday theme image this week is taken from the fascinating collection of old glass negatives which were taken by the Sutton photographer, David Knights-Wittome (1876-1943). This collection has recently been digitised and they are held at the Sutton Local Studies and Archives Centre (further information about the collection can be found on the Past On Glass website). We would like to thank the Sutton Collection for permission to use their images here on Sepia Saturday.

The subject of the photograph is, of course, three choirboys, and you are free to interpret the prompt in whichever way you want. Simply post your post on or around Saturday 8th April and add a link to the list below. Here is a quick preview of the next two Sepia Saturday theme prompts.
