Sepia Saturday 145 : 29 September 2012

You may recall that last week on Sepia Saturday 144 we were concentrating on heads or rather the absence of them. This week we are concentrating on feet - or rather the absence of them. This photograph from the Dutch National Archives - and made available via Flickr Commons - is entitled Boys With Football Boots and shows a group of young lads proudly carrying their football boots. For those in search of a theme, you can take your pick from shoes, boots, feet, football or a large glass of milk and a cow (someone out there will understand this reference). If you want, you can kick any thought of a theme off the field of play and go with whatever old photograph you like. It's Sepia Saturday and there is no off-side rule. Just post your post on or around Saturday 29th September 2012 and then provide a link to the list below.

As usual I am giving you a sneak preview to the next two Sepia Saturday archive images.

Sepia Saturday old-timers will recognise that a picture of a boat setting sail normally means that our regular curator is about to depart on one of his extended holidays. Next week will be my last Sepia Saturday for a few weeks as I prepare to sail away from the cold British winter to the Sunny Caribbean. However, I am delighted to announce that Sepia Saturday co-founder Kat Mortensen has agreed to look after things during my absence. As SS147 will be her first week in charge, she has chosen the archive prompt for that week, and the other weeks she will be looking after things. I will still be here next week, so there is no need to say goodbye just yet. As they say, the game isn't over until the final whistle blows.

You'll be Ian a bit of a Rush then Alan. Exactly!! Those who are in on the milk bottle reference will understand that one too.

Of course I'll be happy to keep my 'Spare Admin' hat on to give Kat a helping hand if need be. I look forward to seeing her choices.

I'm a few days early for this week's photo, since I'll be away at a genealogy conference this weekend. But I did manage to find a pix that doesn't show feet!

Hi, I'm back. I did a report about Shaniko, a ghost town that we stopped in on the way home from Washington. There are some old pictures slipped in here and there, but I thought that you guys would enjoy the post. Now I have a lot of visiting to catch up on!

I'm in, but I'm out. My post is up but I am away all weekend at the Scarborough Jazz Festival. I will try and catch up with the other contributions during breaks from the music, if not it will be when I get back early next week.

My stylish great-aunt with her feet missing in three photos is my theme this week.

A lot of people away this weekend; never mind my goal was reached!

I couldn't stay much closer to the weekly theme than I did. Besides, Alan is making me jealous swinging away at Scarborough.

Shoes. I've chosen shoes. And this will be a two part post for those who end up wanting to know the answer. The second part will post on Sunday.

I haven't contributed for a while, but Little Nell pointed out that my walk this week slotted nicely into the boots theme.

In our family with four girls there was no focus on football at all, so that subject is off for me. The prompt picture reminded me of another outdoor sport: ice skating!

Hello Alan! Not one kick for football- but a whole lot of boys-not just at the beach either! For me!

Phew! only just made it today. Loved the prompt and am looking forward to the nest couple of weeks ones too. I have a really good one planned for SS 147

Amazingly I have a postcard that makes a very good fit with the theme, but is more theatrical than musical.

I'm on theme with a football photograph.

I couldn't find football boots or a football so chose an interesting pic from Great Granny's album :-)

More I wanted to do, but no time to do it. And I'm afraid I'll have to save most of my reading of the other entries for the days ahead.
